In Fall 2013, I served as a graduate research assistant on the Kansas State University Campus Tree Inventory for Professor Chip Winslow, MLA FASLA. After extensive revision in 2001, the KSU Campus Tree Inventory had fallen into disuse. Advancement in cloud and GIS technology has changed the potentials for management and use of geographically-based data. Our project sought to determine existing tree inventories on college campuses and their uses, identify softwares and devices used manage them, and identify best practices for the future of the KSU campus tree inventory.
